Some advice - Payment and Visa
What you need to
bring Payment and Visa Malaria, Vaccination and Health Security Food and Drink
It is suggested that you carry US $50 and $100 notes which can be exchanged
for Tanzania currency at banks within the country. Moneychangers also accept
other major convertible currencies.
Check that your passport has not expired and
that you have travel insurance. You will need a visa to enter Tanzania
which can be obtained on arrival at the airport (payment is in US Dollars)
but it is always advisable to get your visa at a Tanzania Embassy before
departure. Carry with you an extra set (photocopies) of your travel documents and keep them separate from the originals.
Some places you have to pay with US
Dollars, such as National Parks, Lodges/camps, airplanes or ferries. At some banks one can use credit
or cash cards (i.e. Maestro) as they have ATM machines, but be aware that
there may be a weekly limit for cash withdrawals (presently 1 million shillings per week). |
