Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This world famous extinct volcanic crater covers an area
of 8 300 sq. km and has a wide variety of landscape, wild life, tribes and archaeological finds. Here you will find a crater approximately 20 km wide,
in addition to a fantastic view. It also has a rich wild life - especially famous for the nearly extinct Black Rhino. This protected area consists of different ecological systems
including 7 volcanoes with heights ranging from 2 200 to 3 648 meters and savannah plains. In
nearby Olduvai Gorge a 1,8 million year old skull was discovered and
prehistoric human footprints in volcanic ash dating back millions of years.
“Nothing but breathing the air of Africa, and actually walking through it, can communicate the indescribable sensations.” William Berchell
